About this build

This BMW X6M came through our Los Angeles studio as a performance daily-driver build — the finish call usually hangs on whether the owner wants the car to read factory-spec or visibly customized once it leaves our bay. The matte finish is the call when the owner wants the car to read low-profile under daylight and refuse to flash highlights at night. Multi-service builds are sequenced deliberately — one finish has to fully cure before the next one goes on top, so the schedule reflects that order.

This high-performance SUV came in for a matte protective film conversion followed by a ceramic coating over the finished surfaces. The matte layer changes the visual texture while preserving the original paint underneath, and the coating helps reduce water spotting and makes maintenance easier. In Los Angeles, that combination works well on daily-driven performance vehicles that still need a controlled, premium finish. The challenge was keeping the texture even across large curved panels and aggressive lower sections, especially around the front bumper, hood edges, and rear hatch contours.

What we used on this BMW

Why these finishes were combined

BMW builds with several finishes work when each layer is planned in sequence: PPF stops the impact and chemical hits, ceramic coating sits on top so washing the car takes a fraction of the time and grime does not bake in.
