About this build

This Tesla Model Y came through our Los Angeles studio as a electric platform build — EV-specific spec considerations come into play: glass curvature, charge-port edges, and the way battery heat moves through the cabin all factor into the install plan. Multi-service builds are sequenced deliberately — one finish has to fully cure before the next one goes on top, so the schedule reflects that order.

This Tesla Model Y was a multi-stage build — full exterior vinyl wrap, ceramic tint on every window, powder-coated wheels, painted calipers, and a complete cabin upgrade with suede headliner and a fiber-optic starlight ceiling. A top-to-bottom transformation from factory to full-custom.

The exterior wrap was coordinated with the calipers and wheel finish so the colour story reads as one build from any angle. Inside, the factory headliner was stripped, the whole roof liner retrimmed in suede, and star fibers installed by hand so the density mimics a real night sky. What we used on this Tesla

3M, Avery Dennison, KPMF, or Inozetek architectural cast vinyl — premium 7–9 year films, plotter-cut on a Roland pro plotter so every cut line lands inside a factory shut-line.
STEK ceramic window film — 99% UV rejection, ~80% IR heat rejection on darker shades, no metallic layer (so phone, GPS, and cabin radar stay clean). Plotter-cut, never hand-cut on the glass.
Starlight headliner with embedded fibre-optic stars — pillars and headliner panel re-trimmed in matched material; for starlight builds, individual fibres are routed through the foam backing before re-installing the panel.
High-temperature caliper paint system — calipers stripped, masked, and refinished off the car so the colour does not bleed onto rotors or pads. Two-stage clear seals against brake-dust etching.

Why these finishes were combined

Tesla builds with several finishes work when each layer is planned in sequence: a colour change on the body looks more deliberate when the cabin glass is tinted to match the new exterior tone; the cabin work matches the exterior build so the car feels finished from inside the driver seat too.

What to expect after the install

Vinyl wrap care: hand-wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, no automated brush carwashes. Expect 5–7 years of finish life on a daily driver, longer on a garage-kept build.
Ceramic tint cure: keep the windows up for 3–5 days while the film fully dries. Small water pockets are normal during cure and disappear on their own. Lifetime warranty against fading and bubbling.
Headliner care: let the adhesive cure 48 hours before re-installing seat covers or roof racks; clean with a soft brush, never a wet rag.
Painted calipers: first 48 hours avoid heavy braking from speed; thereafter the finish handles standard driving. Annual de-greasing keeps the colour clean.
